Vehicle Suitable for Full Trailer Transport

Full trailer transport is a type of land transport that has very diverse forms of transportation and many types of vehicles for transporting goods.

Depending on the transport of goods, its dimensions or the structure of the truck, we will have to use a more appropriate vehicle or another so that the transport is adequate to our needs.

We can transport a full trailer in many ways, i.e. it can be loaded with goods from one customer, with groupages from different customers, with large volume goods (e.g. straw, it does not weigh much, but it takes up a lot of space).

Types of full trailer in transport according to your goods

Depending on the type of materials to be shipped in full trailer transport, we can classify vehicles as follows:

Tauliner or tarpaulin trailer

It is the most common and common vehicle due to its capacities, since the semi-trailer is covered by tarpaulins on the sides and top that can be removed so that when necessary the load can be on the sides, rear and top, depending at all times on the needs of the goods to be loaded on the vehicle.

This allows it to be a very comfortable vehicle to adapt to a great amount of materials, besides being one of the most recommended for goods that are usually complicated to load.

Open platform

The platform on which the cargo is loaded is open, it can be partially covered on the sides so that the goods do not move. It is usually used for the transportation of construction materials.

Mega trailer

It has sliding curtains as is the case of the tauliner. They have a height of 3 meters and an elevating upper deck. This type of trailer is suitable for large-volume goods and high-altitude cargo.

Cistern

It is usually used in the transport of ADR goods for the transport of liquid, gaseous and chemical products, as these products have applicable and special safety regulations in each case.

Refrigerator

These vehicles are responsible for the ground transportation of goods that must be refrigerated at all times. They can be of three types: refrigerated, isothermal or refrigerated. It depends on whether they have cooling generation systems or just insulation from the outside.

There are also calorific trucks, although they are less common.

Types of full trailers in transport according to their weight

Depending on the weight in full trailer transport, they are divided into groups according to their Maximum Authorized Mass (MMA).

What does MMA mean? It means how much the total vehicle weighs, including cargo, structure, fuel…

  • N1: Up to 3,500 kgs
  • N2: More than 3,500 kgs and less than 12,000 kgs
  • N3: Higher than 12,000 kgs.

Types of full trailers in transportation according to their emission level

Depending on the level of emissions in full trailer transport, they can be classified as Euro 5 or Euro 6.

These nomenclatures refer to the level of emissions established by the European Union (EU) that vehicles emit (nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide…).

Euro 6 is the most recent and obliges trucks, since 2014, to abide by these non-pollution obligations from the levels established since the first purchase is made.

All vehicles must comply with Euro 6, which is a consequence of Law 595/2009 of the European Parliament and Council Law of 18/06/09.

It requires an additional 80% reduction in the limit for Nitrogen Oxides, a reduction of more than 70% for Hydrocarbons, and a 50% drop in particulate matter (g/kWh).
