The Government has facilitated the transport flow during the Coronavirus with a Resolution of the Directorate-General for Land Transport, published in the BOE of 14 April 2020, temporarily exempting compliance with the rules on driving times and rest periods in the carriage of goods:
- Article 6.1: replace the maximum daily driving limit of 9 hours by 11 hours.
- Article 8.1: Reducing the requirement for a daily rest of 11 hours by a daily rest of 9 hours.
- Article 8.6: the possibility of taking two consecutive reduced weekly rest periods of at least 24 hours, provided that: or the driver takes at least four weekly rest periods in those four consecutive weeks, of which at least two shall be normal weekly rest periods of at least 45 hours, and; or compensation for the reduced weekly rest periods is not required.
- Article 8.8: to allow the driver to take his normal weekly rest on the
vehicle, provided that the vehicle is properly equipped for the rest of each driver and is parked.
These exemptions shall apply until 31 May 2020.
